Description

Mundaring Arts Centre presents Habits of Horses, a community arts project celebrating the historical and cultural significance of the relationship between humans and horses. The project brings curated exhibitions together with community artists, with an impressive line-up of workshops, events, cultural celebrations and a community Open Day.

The central events and activities of the Habits of Horses community Open Day take place at the Mundaring Sculpture Park and surrounds on Sunday 20 August. The Open Day invites all members of the community to take part in a huge range of free horse-related arts festivities, on offer from 10am–4pm. Activities include the Great Hobby Horse Jumping event, saddling competitions, horse handling talks, live horses and ponies, pony petting, food vans, book sales, whip cracking, bridle making – even the 10th Light Horse Regiment will be there!

The Habits of Horses Open Day also celebrates the launch of Horse-In-Stall – a temporary installation of large-scale horse-inspired sculptures by some of Perth's most renowned sculptors Cecile Williams, Tony Jones, Denise Brown and Claire Bailey. Horse-In-Stall will remain on display at the Mundaring Sculpture Park until 10 September.
