City of Wanneroo Art Awards - Call for Entries

The City of Wanneroo is excited to announce that the 2010 Art Awards are to be held at the brand new Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre's Exhibition Centre. This purpose built facility boasts state of the art facilities including temperature and humidity controls in line with national museum standards. Located on the corner of Dundebar Road and Rocca Way (opposite the Wanneroo Civic Centre) the Exhibition Centre will host a range of exhibitions from local and interstate sources. 

Entry is now open for the 2010 awards in categories of Painting, Sculpture and Works on Paper. The entry form is available at http://www.wanneroo.wa.gov.au/3/225/1/art_awards.pm

Important Dates
Entries close on Friday 22 January at 4pm
Artworks are to be delivered on Monday 8 February between 12pm and 6pm
Exhibition open to the public Sunday 14 February - Sunday 7 March
Artwork collection Sunday 7 March 4.15pm - 5pm or Monday 8 March 10am-3pm

Our special guest speaker for the evening will be Graham Howe. Graham
is a writer, curator and CEO of Curatorial Assistance Inc. (Los
Angeles/Sydney). He was the inaugural director of the Australian
Centre of Photography, one of the first employees of the Photographers
‚ Gallery in London and a curator of the Graham Nash Photography
Collection (USA). Graham's international experience in photography
has also resulted in his publishing a number of authoritative books
on photography.

From Papunya in the Northern Territory young artist Kukula McDonald paints the red tailed black cockatoo and the colourful hills of her country whilst local Nyoongah fibre textile artist and bush sculptor Janine McAullay Bott uses palm fronds and seed pods bring to life local species of birds.

Janine McAullay Bott is the winner of the 2009 Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art (NATSIA) Wandjuk Marika 3D Memorial Award announced in Darwin in August.
