Description

Mundaring Arts Centre presents Habits of Horses, a community arts project celebrating the historical and cultural significance of the relationship between humans and horses. The project brings curated exhibitions with works by international and nationally recognised artists together with community artists. These run alongside an impressive line-up of workshops, events and a community Open Day.

At the centre of the project is the Habits of Horses: Serious Horsing Around exhibition which brings together some of WA's most exciting contemporary artists: Madeleine Clear, Marcia Espinosa, Indra Geidans, Jan Griffiths, Tony Jones, Paul Kaptein, Theo Koning, Matt McVeigh, Andrew Nicholls, Anna Louise Richardson, Sue Starcken and Yuko Takahashi. These artists respond to the role horses played in the countries of their forefathers and present diverse interpretations ranging between sculptural, life-sized and two-dimensional artworks.

Mundaring Arts Centre presents Habits of Horses, a community arts project celebrating the historical and cultural significance of the relationship between humans and horses. Horse Tales, presented in Gallery 2 at Mundaring Arts Centre, is a community exhibition which goes on a wild ride celebrating hay, horse hair and horse shoe artworks created through community workshops held in schools, community groups and Mundaring Arts Centre this year.
The exhibition includes a 'paddock' of sculpted hay horses; a wall-mounted mob of wild brumbies made from found objects; small sculptures, rosettes and jewellery incorporating horse hair, created by school children, teenagers and adults.

With Winter in full swing, Made on the Left Artisan Markets is set to transcend the Perth Concert Hall this Sunday the 30th July from 10am to 4pm for a marvelous event, which showcases some of WA’s upcoming and established artisans.

The one-day festival, boasting over 60 creatives, pools some of WA’s best independent and sustainable designers in one place, this time at the Perth Concert Hall, including many artisans from around Perth.

The goal of the Designer & Artisan Market, is to create a platform for attendees to support local independent designers, who specialise in unique, hand-crafted locally made goodies.

Using footage drawn from iconic Hollywood films, sitcoms, telemovies and arthouse cinema Moffatt and Hillberg explore subjects of universal significance such as love, motherhood, revolution and destruction. Each montage invents new narratives and fictions, playing with character conventions to create emotionally charged compositions. While Hillberg brings an encyclopaedic knowledge of film and editing skills to the partnership, Moffatt uses storytelling to shed light on issues of gender, race, sexuality and identity, often in a distinctively Australian context. Her work draws on both popular culture and her own life experiences and background.

Description

Sound is made tangible in an upcoming collaborative exhibition with contemporary composer Annika Moses and visual artist Shannon Lyons. The two creatives strive to cultivate approachability in their conceptual arts practice through audience participation and engagement. For Five Point One and a Piece of Four by Two, Lyons will create a large structure examining materials and forms which emit sound, orienting audience movement in the gallery. Moses will present an accompanying soundscape that asks the viewer to question their participation in the experience of the work and other sounds in the gallery. The exhibition will be held in Mundaring Arts Centre's Gallery 1, from 7 July to 6 August 2017.
