Exhibition - ‘The Space Between Lines’ at Midland Junction Arts Centre

Event Title

Exhibition - 'The Space Between Lines'

Participating Artists

Dragica Milunovic

Venue Name

Midland Junction Arts Centre

Venue Address

276 Great Eastern Highway Midland Western Australia 6056
Australia

Description

Local contemporary painter Dragica Milunovic's new solos exhibition 'The Space Between Lines' presents a new series of works celebrating line-making, layering and repetition.

These detailed abstract paintings were inspired by aerial views of parched landscapes, fissures on Antarctica and patterns in the sand made by the continuous movement of waves. Milunovic closely observes lines and forms in nature and incorporates some manmade lines (such as grids) in her work to create irregular patterns and a sense of vibration.

This exhibition explores the beauty of line making and repetition as Milunovic investigates how the simple rule of layering space, can create complex results.

Exhibition - ‘PENUMBRA’ at Midland Junction Arts Centre

Event Title

Exhibition - 'PENUMBRA'

Participating Artists

Bina Butcher & Tess Beale

Venue Name

Midland Junction Arts Centre

Venue Address

276 Great Eastern Highway Midland Western Australia 6056
Australia

Description

In an effort to create a context for contemplation, for their three-month residency at Midland Junction Arts Centre, Bina Butcher and Tessa Beale have gathered natural elements and documented interventions in the environment. This exhibition of the results of their explorations creates the conditions for a slower, quieter consideration of our surroundings.

Penumbra is the term for the partially shaded outer region of the shadow cast by an opaque object. Beale and Butcher explore these margins and communicate the effects of particular qualities found in the natural objects and materials they have collected.

Through observations of the movement of bodies of water, textures, shadows and sound re-contextualise our own sensory experiences and interactions in a new environment: the gallery.
