Danilo Pravica @ Gallery Central

Event Title: DANILO PRAVICA ALCHEMY OF THINKING.
Participating Artists: Danilo Pravica.

Venue:
Gallery Central,
12 Aberdeen St, Perth.

Description: DANILO PRAVICA ALCHEMY OF THINKING
10 JUNE - 2 JULY

Human existence meets the heavenly sphere in Pravica's oil paintings, acrylics, drawings and aquatints.

Born in the former Yugoslavia, Danilo Pravica has lived and worked in Perth since 1997. He has had an amazing 44 solo exhibitions in Europe and 8 in Perth. Pravica is represented in collections in 22 countries.

Through form and colour, Pravica transforms the human and the natural worlds into intimations of the infinite, implying the interconnectedness of all things, including the physical and the spiritual. His figures are somehow disembodied, even spectral, certainly universal. They intersect and overlap, looking outwards towards the viewer or inwards towards their own space. Out of these complexities of space and viewing points there frequently arises a figure, outlined in glowing colour, and floating upwards out of the frame. At the same time the background colours become pure and clear, as if to indicate the attainment of some form of the sublime.

Gallery Central is proud to be a partner of the City of Perth Winter Arts Season.

Dates: 10 June 2011 to 02 July 2011.
Opening Times: Mon-Fri 10am-4.45pm; Sat 2-4.45pm.

Thomas Heidt @ emerge ARTSPACE

Event Title: 'Time Slot' - Exhibition.
Participating Artists: Thomas Heidt.

Venue:
emerge ARTSPACE,
676A Beaufort St, Mt Lawley.

Description: Thomas Heidt's latest solo exhibition [Time Slot] at Emerge Art Space brings together a series of elemental works that embody the artists‚ continuing process driven practice and its movement into increasingly vast spaces.

Sighting the aesthetics of scientific processes, repetition and emotional and rational methods of construction, Heidt has an implicit understanding of materials and their underlying potential to create form and structure. Charred local timbers and pencil box tools are employed by Heidt in his creations, where repetitive forms give way to the subtle oddities uncovered via the artists process.

Amongst these earnest inquiries into the nature of materials, scientific repetition and minimal aesthetics, there is a lingering and refreshing effect of play evident in Heidt's works.

There is a sense that many of the works presented in [Time Slot] are a slice of a larger, perpetual structure or pattern that with time could extend beyond the gallery walls.

- Britt Salt.
