Description: Heathcote Museum & Gallery's 2015 'TILT' artist is Andy Quilty,

'Hooning', a term favoured by authorities, references the act of performing
'burnouts' - a deliberate imprint of melted rubber left by a motor vehicle
in a physical recording of oneself onto the suburban environs.

In Hoon the artist examines notions of the burnout as a suburbanite marking
of territory within a historical and post colonial context. Drawing upon the

around ownership, entitlement and sense of place form the basis of enquiry.

depth, richness and integrity. Dividing the brief into three parts, Anna

Wade Taylor @ Paper Mountain

Event Title: Eshay
Participating Artists: Wade Taylor.

Venue: Paper Mountain, Upstairs, 267 William Street, Northbridge.

Description: In contemporary Australia, certain rituals and ceremonies mark
and define a prescribed masculinity. Finding a place in the social order,
developing a social identity and distinct ego are the key drivers in what
constitutes a sense of 'normalized' Australian masculinity.

Wade Taylor's work examines a notion of hegemonic masculinity at the social
and collective level. The dominant model is often associated with toughness,
competitiveness, aggression and the celebration of idols. Whilst
acknowledging the varied cultural and sexual experiences that differentiate
masculinity in Australia, Eshay focuses on a common and pervasive
ordinariness.

Eshay explores how projections of masculinity through social media sit in a
jarring relation to their suburban setting. The works in this exhibition
take the form of large paintings in oil, small-scale collage and ceramic
objects.

Opening night Friday 11 September 6-8pm
Artist talks at 5:30pm.

Dates: 11 September 2015 to 27 September 2015.

what it seemed.
Participating Artists: Consuelo Cavaniglia.

Venue: Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, Perth Cultural Centre, 51 James

Description: In the distance a pool of light was not what it seemed is an
exhibition of new work created for PICA's West End Gallery. Extending her
drawing practice into three-dimensional forms, Sydney-based West Australian
artist Consuelo Cavaniglia takes her latest works to a new scale, creating a
landscape of pavilions for visitors to move through and around.

The artist ruptures and folds reflective surfaces, colour fields and
airbrushed edges to create illusions of depth. Cavaniglia combines drawings,
mirrors and structures to construct disorienting interiors with cinematic
undertones, offering up new perceptual situations within space, time and
architecture.

identify the apparitions, simulations and doubles that have surfaced in

post-internet age.

performance has the audience living the surreal, visceral yet poetic
experience of a football match. SDS1 ponders the psyche of the vulnerable

see the player 'caught' in the performance, rather than in control of it.

Venue: Houghton Winery, 148 Dale Rd Middle Swan.

Description: ARTISTIC TALENT UNCORKED AT HOUGHTON

Lovers of all things fine - whether art or wine - will enjoy a visit
Houghton's Winery during September for the Uncorked Exhibition. The
exhibition brings together the artwork of three popular Perth artists: Mary
Crawford, Roger Reading and Honor Lovis, whose works range from paintings on
canvas to fabric sculpture and repurposed objects found in nature.

The artists made the decision to come together for a group exhibition after
they all went on an art tour of Tuscany in the company of award-winning
Czech artist, Jana Vodesil-Baruffi, in 2014. Of the firm belief that art and
wine are a natural fit, the artists were pleased to partner with the
world-famous Houghton's Vineyard in the Swan Valley wine region as an
exhibition venue.

Their art represents an insight into three individual journeys through their
physical and emotional worlds. Visitors to the Exhibition will be surprised
by the diversity of the work from three distinct artists.
There are sunlit pastoral scenes reminiscent of peasant villages in France,
dramatic foreign cityscapes and stark Australian landscapes, as well as
artworks in evocative abstract and modern styles. Honor's three-dimensional
sculptures and Mary's gourd creatures also tend to delight and intrigue
art-lovers of all ages.

Uncorked is the artists' first group exhibition together. The artists will
be available to meet the public at the official opening on Sunday August 30
between 2pm and 4pm.

Venue: Wild Twig Studios, 10 Captains Lane, Bathers Beach Art Precinct,
Fremantle.

Description: Fremantle Heritage Festival Artist Showcase Beasts of Battle:
Animals in WWI

Karen Jackson of 'Wolf Takes Fox' Studio and Wild Twig Studios

For Australians, the ANZAC legend, Duffy - Simpson's donkey - is probably
the most famous of the many horses, mules and donkeys used for transporting
supplies and wounded men. Of course, there were many other types of animals
and birds used during that conflict.

Inspired by the centenary of the Anzac landing, this art will acknowledge
some of the roles played by the different animals during WW1.

With both words and pictures, this project will look at how both sides
'depended on the efforts and skills of animals for transport, logistics,
communications and, at times, solace.'*

- adding new information and personal meaning.'

Joanna Sulkowski @ The Sky

Event Title: TRANSART: TRANSITION 2015 | Elevated Conversations .
Participating Artists: Joanna Sulkowski.

Venue: The Sky, Perth CBD.

Description: Commissioned by the City of Perth for the 2015 TRANSART:
TRANSITION project, Elevated Conversations is a series of installations by
artist Joanna Sulkowski, appearing as aerial banners flown over Perth's CBD
on five separate occasions.

The ambiguous dialogue within the work is intimate in nature, yet still
relatable to each viewer in different ways. The work can be read as highly
personal and emotional, yet it retains a sense of humour, as a play on the
grand gesture.

A viewer may just see one message, or the entirety of the narrative, or even
a random number, creating a different context of the work depending how much
is noticed and also known about the project as a whole.

A large part of Sulkowski's practise is centred on noticing the unnoticed,
and this is also a featured theme in this work. The work is unexpected,
unconventional and cryptic, prompting the audience to question the reasons
behind it, fostering the chance for discussion, both in person, and through
posting images/descriptions of the bizarre sightings on social media, or
even use the message as their own!

Elevated Conversations occurs on five consecutive Fridays (weather
permitting) Friday 17 April - Friday 15 May, 12 noon - 2pm. Best viewed
from Langley Park, Kings Park or the south facing windows of Perth's high
rise buildings.

Dates: 17 April 2015 to 15 May 2015.

People are encouraged to get up and have a dance, and learn a few moves from
our professional dancers, who will be there to teach you the grooves...

Grab a bite to eat from a selection of food and beverages, meander through
the Artisan market stalls, explore the Open Art Studios, meet the local
artisans, and purchase some unique pieces of Artwork.

Come and discover the Bathers Beach Arts Precinct and everything it has to
offer.
We are perched on a cliff top, surrounded by green grass, intimate picnic
spots, a rolling green, hidden laneways and the sands of Bathers Beach... it
is truly magical !
