From River to sea @ Suburban Table
Event Title: From River to Sea.

Description: Amok Island (born Amsterdam, 1983) is a self-taught
self-employed artist/designer living in Perth, Western Australia.
On land you can find his super sized marine creatures painted on public
walls. If you search below sea level, you could come across one of his large
concrete letter sculptures, slowly being covered by sea life.
From his studio in Inglewood, Amok Island paints large colourful canvases of
sea creatures and coastal aerial views. His hand made screenprints are from
start till finish produced at his studio, exposing the screens using the
light of the sun.
After growing up and more than a decade of painting walls in the heart of
Amsterdam, his love for everything tropical has led him travelling through
Asia, ending up in Western Australia in 2009. Amok Island is passionate
about underwater photography, which often provides the reference to his
work.

Call for Proposals: In Conversation
In Conversation is a curated cross-disciplinary/cross-art form collaborative exhibition that will take place in October 2014, Spectrum Project Space, Edith Cowan University (ECU). The exhibition stems from the manifesto of 'This Is Not A Seminar' (TINAS), a support network and research series designed to nurture and challenge creative researchers at ECU.
Examples of potential collaborations and disciplines include (a minimum of 3 disciplines required):
• Contemporary artist + mathematician + dancer
• Performance maker + environmental writer + design thinker + contemporary artist
• Architect + designer + performance maker
• Writer + visual artist + director
• Performance group + scientist + sculptor
In Conversation wants you to 'make what you will' in a collaborative and interdisciplinary juncture and we strongly encourage crossovers between industry and institution. You may either apply with a collaboration already in mind or as individual applicant in which case, if successful, you will be placed in a group of our choosing.

Moira Court and Stuart Court and Sandie Schroder @ Zig Zag Gallery

sculptors, painters, photographers, jewellers and printmakers. The doors
will be opened from 11am to 2pm, revealing an array of artistry and
craftsmanship from 16 emerging and established artists..

Description: Hermannsburg Artists continue the watercolour tradition of Albert Namatjira, 75 years after Albert's first successful exhibition opened. These Indigenous landscape paintings provided the first vision for a wider audience of the Aranda world and the dramatic locations around the Western MacDonnell Ranges. Namatjira taught his relatives and countrymen well, and a strong school of painting continues today.

of work is a quiet and contemplative reflection on the less significant and
often overlooked moments present in everyday life. Judy Rogers is an artist
who is caught up in the details. Her disarming portraits of family and
friends and depictions of overlooked or seemingly mundane domestic subjects
are rendered with a sensitivity and stillness which seems to slow time.
Rogers' intimate figurative works, informed by classical traditions, are
imbued with an honesty and warmth rarely evident in contemporary figurative
painting.
