Description | The City of Wanneroo, in collaboration with Edith Cowan University and Girrawheen Senior High School, is delighted to present Yokayi Waarbiny Wer Malayin Djin-Djin (Celebrate Art and Cultural Spirit) for the second year running. This celebration of artwork features works developed and created by Aboriginal girls in Years 7 to 11 from Girrawheen High School.
Well respected, local Aboriginal artist, Esandra Colbung mentors the students and teaches them about Aboriginality through story-telling and assists with developing art techniques.
The program and associated exhibition aims to improve the education, discipline and self-esteem of young Aboriginal women through art and has provided many different and wonderful learning opportunities for the students. |
