Applecross.

contemporary information and communication technologies in the context of a
new geopoliticised world. When we use networked information technologies we
are exposed to a spectrum of material sourced from many different places
that collides together and as individuals we want to make sense of this.
Claire Bushby and Steven Tapping reflect on those desires through the use of
social engagement, the Internet and multimedia devices mixed with
installation and even cross-stitch as tools that invite participation and
discussion. Through the participative focus of the projects in TL;DR Bushby
and Tapping attempt to break down the division between artist and audience
in a world where social media platforms and the Internet in general enable
everyone to be a creative content producer.

Event Title: Summer@Suburban Table
Participating Artists: Joanne Duffy

Venue: Suburban Table, 622 Stirling Highway Mosman Park 6011

Description: Suburban Table is proud to present our latest featured artist,
Joanne Duffy

Born in WA, Joanne's artistic talents go back to her childhood as a prolific
drawer, influenced by her painting mother and creative family; progressing
through to the tertiary level with studying Graphic Design at Curtin
University. A change of state to Victoria saw her career develop into
large-scale publishing, training and staff management and finally into a
software analysis career. After having children, Joanne and her family
returned to Perth and returned to graphic design work in a freelance
capacity alongside heading a local charity organisation in perinatal mental
health. For many years Joanne was an active consumer representative with
beyondblue. Around ten years ago Joanne pursued her love of painting and has
continued to develop her style and interest in an expressionist abstract
style.

Joanne's abstract expressionist style explores her interests in our
landscape and the emotional responses and memories it evokes within us.
Joanne's intense use of colour and sweeping brush marks create a wonderful
sense of movement within her paintings, evoking glimpses of Australia's
rural landscape.
