Description: 2011 Samstag recipient Christian Capurro and Benjamin Forster, winner of the FACPA 2010 Non-Acquisitive prize discuss recent works from their multi-disciplinary practices. Both artists use printmaking in their practice and make works that are sculptural, performative, pictorial and installation based.
Established artist Christian Capurro's practice variously employs drawing, photography, ephemeral site specific installations, collaborative presentations, process and conceptually based work. Capurros‚ practice is particularly interested in forms and processes of unmaking or making-away in our culture obsessed with visibility as a measure of value. In 2010 Capurro exhibits at Artspace, Sydney; the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art; and Gertrude Contemporary Art Space, Melbourne.
Recently graduating from Australian National University, emerging artist Benjamin Forster recently relocated to Perth to complete simultaneous residencies at PICA and Symbiotica in 2010. Forsters‚ practice explores drawing bringing together digital and bio technologies, installation and print to trace the boundaries of logic, economy and the role of the artist in art making.
