Description: Matthew Jackson's vibrant and richly layered paintings and film works are the culmination of three years of reserach invesitigating the theme of gender fluidity. Jackson recently travelled around the world interviewing and spending time with a diverse range of transgender personalities.The encounters from this experience have informed this current body of work.

Description: Martin Smith is our second artist in residence for 2011. He is a well-known and respected photographer from Brisbane. Martin will arrive in Perth on Monday 27 June to commence his residency, held in conjunction with the Central Institute of Technology and sponsored by the Turner Galleries Art Angels. His exhibition opens on Friday 15 July at 6pm. All welcome.

Event Title: Stacked.

Description: This exhibition of new work by Theo Koning consists of sculptural assemblages created from found wooden objects. Recognisable wooden pieces come together to create new forms that explore the formal spatial problems of abstract sculpture. These lyrical works are about balance, form, negative spaces and minimal colour. Other sculptures reference figurative elements, and it is the juxtaposition of familiar objects in new and unique ways that make these works so quirky, humorous and appealing.

Joanne Duffy & Zoran Petkovic @ Artspace Gallery

Description: Artspace Gallery has pleasure in inviting you to Dissolved Boundaries Featuring new works by Zoran Petkovic and Joanne Duffy.

These two artists have joined forces to bring you a visual feast of works employing the separate mediums of photography and paint. Whilst both artists are abstract expressionists, they are motivated by very different ideas.

Joanne was brought up in the wheat belt and that landscape has remained with her today. She takes those remembered visions and interprets them with colour and marks.

Zoran fell in love with photography in the 1980's. Although educated as an engineer, his journey through life has progressed in anything but straight lines. He found and embraced the need for creativity, flexibility, curiosity and free play. This is very evident in his work.
