Celene E. Bridge @ Merenda Contemporary

Participating Artists: Celene E. Bridge.

Venue: Merenda Contemporary,
86 High Street Fremantle WA.

Description: Through a series of detailed oil and watercolour paintings,
Bridge's first solo exhibition explores animal nature in both a physical and
metaphorical sense. The works depict animals that carry the burden of the
human condition. Animals are ascribed with human-like qualities, some
romanticised whilst others are condemned, having their instincts portrayed
as uncivilised. The cultural constructions and idealisations of these
animals act as a vessel for human virtues - essentially humanising the
"Beast".

Bridge holds a BA in Fashion and Textile Design from Curtin University and
has participated in various group exhibitions over the past decade.
Primarily working in painting and sculpture her work is often inspired by
the beauty and mystery of the natural world.

Dates: 28 November to 13 December 2015.
Opening Times: Tuesday–Sunday 11am–5pm.
