Yvonne's unique style has developed over the last 44 years culminating in her debut exhibition from November 24 to December 5. She has always loved her art interests but the priorities of raising three children and running a business with her husband of 36 years meant putting her art endeavours on the back burner. Now she is finally able to devote a lot more time to her art. Yvonne has dedicated this exhibition to her life-long friend Tanya, who sadly passed away in 2014. Kristen Brownfield @ SHOPFRONT GALLERY
Participating Artists: Kristen Brownfield
Venue: SHOPFRONT GALLERY,
149 Beaufort St, Northbridge
Description: Teeter is an installation that will be made in response to the
SHOPFRONT GALLERY. Working from a palette of up-cycled objects and studio
remnants, Kristen will create a three-dimensional drawing in the space that
suggests the extension of the making process from studio to the gallery
site. Precarious and unfixed, the work seeks to emphasize the ephemeral
relations between object, space and the viewer.
During a studio residency at ECU, Kristen has been occupied with material
investigations and the reconfiguration of found objects. Through assemblage,
she has explored ways to construct a dialogue between a range of materials
and architectural space, considering small interventions and countless
potential arrangements. As her first solo show, Teeter can be seen as one
rendition specific to the SHOPFRONT GALLERY.
Kristen Brownfield (born 1992) is an emerging Perth artist working across
collage, painting, assemblage and installation and artist-books. Since
completing her BA last year, she has undergone a studio placement at Paper
Mountain ARI (Northbridge) and Edith Cowan University, Mt Lawley (current).

Participating Artists: Sarah Thornton-Smith.
Venue: Mundaring Arts Centre,
7190 Great Eastern Highway (corner Nichol Street) Mundaring
Description: Sarah Thornton-Smith's first solo exhibition "Left to my Own
Devices" is a conversation in colour, meticulously constructed out of paper,
soft woods and metal foils rendered in gouache. Small in nature, delicate
and ephemeral, the works echo some of Thornton-Smith's intimate experiences
and memories such as when she moved to WA from Singapore as a teen. Struck
by the harshness of light compared to light bound by tropical lushness,
Sarah's lifelong fascination with colour intensified. Sarah's work is
infused with ideas of landscape and explores the relationship that develops
between colour, form, structure and light.

First showing in Collie Art Gallery in the winter of 2016, and then during February 2017 in Mandurah Performing Art Centre. Floor and wall installations of mixed media works on wood panel. charged nature of the Vacant and highlights the tension between the
stillness and the promise of empty landscapes and abandoned spaces.
Taylor's work suggests the void of human presence and the energy that
lingers in these familiar and pedestrian scenes...it's parks, underpasses,
toilet blocks and car parks.
Wade Taylor is an emerging artist from Perth, Western Australia. He
completed a Bachelor in Fine Arts at the University of Western Australia in
2012 with a focus on painting, film, and multi-media installation. While

Jenn Garland @ Free range gallery
Participating Artists: Jenn Garland
Venue: Free range gallery,
339 Wellington St, Perth WA 6000.
Description: DATE WITH DISASTER, a solo exhibition by Jenn Garland, explores
our fascination with havoc. Sculptural works, painting and photography
simulate a landscape where the artificial has declined into the chaos of
nature. Here human construction and interventions are seemingly reabsorbed
into the environment. Inspired by the materiality and forms of
post-industrial ruins, DATE WITH DISASTER investigates "ruin porn" and
apocalypse as popular Internet tropes. Combining the language of
advertising and social media with the aesthetics of decay, Garland
contemplates the ways we consume images of disaster. She questions whether
our interest in ruination is as a symbol of impermanence, evidence of
Modernism's fading Utopian dream, or stems from something darker.

any age.
