Workshop @ Paper Mountain

Description: Want to learn how to design your own patterns and print them onto ready-made products?

Freelance textile designer, design educator and SURFACE 1º22 founder Emily Wills will take you through the process of designing basic units and tiled repeat patterns that can be digitally printed onto wallpaper, gift wrap, tote bags, fabrics, and garments. All three workshops cover the same content, are suitable for people aged 12-30 and are geared towards beginners and artists at an intermediate level of their practice.

All materials are supplied, so it is not necessary to bring any equipment for the workshop.

Emily Wills is the creative director of SURFACE 1°22, living between Asia and Australia designing screen and digital prints, blogging and workshopping. She has worked as a fashion designer, illustrator, printed textile designer and design educator. After eight years of lecturing in tertiary education, Emily developed Paper. Pattern. Print. to simplify the design process and teach surface pattern design to a global audience.

ArtGames 2015 Series @ The Newport Hotel

Event Title: The ArtGames 2015 Series

Venue: The Newport Hotel, 2 South Terrace, Fremantle.

Description: The format requires two artists to take their blank canvas to
finished artwork in front of a live audience in 120 minutes, the seconds
ticking down from behind the stage as they work.

Accompanying this desperate fight to complete an artwork, two local original
bands/music artists take the stage to create a sonic landscape as exciting
as the visual drama unfolding before the eyes of the audience.

Sponsored by Jacksons' Art Supplies, Matsos, Pilpel Print and The Newport
Hotel, this art-music fusion is a first in bringing together original artist
and musicians in a celebration of the explosive talents of our WA arts
communities.

Description: Explore more than 240 paintings and artefacts by highly collectible artists in the tenth Rio Tinto Colours of our Country Aboriginal art exhibition. Meet some of the featured artists who have travelled from the Pilbara region to share stories and customs from our country. 

Colours of our Country is more than an exhibition.  It creates economic development opportunities for the featured artists, supports the ongoing sustainability of art groups and artists, providing an outlet for cultural expression.

Since its launch, more than 1,900 artworks have been sold, generating almost $1.75 million for artists, their art groups and communities..

Description: Using both robust and delicate materials, the artists in Handle
With Care examine the notion and intersection of fragility and strength. In

Join the artists in a workshop and conversation sharing their creative
approaches to starting new works on Friday September 4, 11am to 2pm. The
workshops will use materials, ideas and techniques to transform new concepts
into objects. Bring your materials and treasured fragments.

Description: Almost 20 years after the wars in Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia, and 13 years after the end of the conflict in Kosovo, thousands of people are still missing. This Red Cross exhibition tells the story of some of those who are unaccounted for and their family's search for answers with photographs by award-winning British photojournalist Nick Danziger.
