Workshop @ Paper Mountain

Event Title: Paper. Pattern. Print. Workshop.

Venue:
Paper Mountain,
267 William Street, Northbridge, 6003.

Description: Want to learn how to design your own patterns and print them onto ready-made products?

Freelance textile designer, design educator and SURFACE 1º22 founder Emily Wills will take you through the process of designing basic units and tiled repeat patterns that can be digitally printed onto wallpaper, gift wrap, tote bags, fabrics, and garments. All three workshops cover the same content, are suitable for people aged 12-30 and are geared towards beginners and artists at an intermediate level of their practice.

All materials are supplied, so it is not necessary to bring any equipment for the workshop.

Emily Wills is the creative director of SURFACE 1°22, living between Asia and Australia designing screen and digital prints, blogging and workshopping. She has worked as a fashion designer, illustrator, printed textile designer and design educator. After eight years of lecturing in tertiary education, Emily developed Paper. Pattern. Print. to simplify the design process and teach surface pattern design to a global audience.

"I think there is a persisting appreciation for hand-craftsmanship and traditional art making methods, funnily enough, at a time when digital software is taking over our lives. This partnership of hand with technology is where I love to teach and play." - Emily Wills.

Dates: 05 September 2015 to 07 September 2015.
Opening Times: 5th-6th September 9am-12pm, 7 September 4pm-7pm.
